A thing I’d never seen before. Part of a rideshare program in Paris. The park by feel method they use here means none of them look that clean. Nonetheless they supposedly have over 150 mile range and are decently quick for urban use. Neat.

Pretty cool. I’d kinda like to have a go but driving in Paris would probably terrify me. I’ve seen so many crunches that’d be a proper accident in the UK but here they just sort of ignore it.

I survived! It’s expensive though and unless there were three or four of you you’d be better taking the bus or the Métro. I only got a car out of curiosity.

Yeah the metro is really quite good here anyway for most travelling. I used it the whole holiday (5 days) and only paid 14 euros.

I read that. I’m not a fan of London though so I doubt I’ll get to use one.

Yes, you can get ten tickets for €11 or something and that’ll do you for some time.

Yeah that’s what we did, was something like 28 euros for 20 and we had two spares. Never got delayed either, unlike the metro in Newcastle which might get you to your destination some time in the next week if you’re lucky.

Even if you’re keen on the place, if any trip to London actually involves driving within the city limits, you’ve fucked up—I either take the train straight from my town - it’s less than an hour’s trip, and actually reasonably priced if you’re going off-peak - or use one of those driveway parking rental services, park at the very edge, and take the Tube.

Yeah Id never drive there. I get the tube about while I’m there, even though I strongly dislike that too haha. The metro in Paris is much more pleasant (and cheaper) than the London underground.

I quite like the Tube - being able to just tap my debit card on the Oyster readers to get around is just fantastic when you’re used to paper bus tickets, and I like how, even in an utterly packed carriage, it’s comfortably quiet - but I’ve never used an alternative underground, so I don’t really have a point of comparison.

Its how heavily packed it is that bothers me and had a fair few delays even though I’ve only used it a few times.

I’ve always gotten lucky when it comes to delays—don’t think I’ve ever been held up for a significant amount of time. I’m used to a small town’s bus network as the height of public transportation, so I’m just consistently impressed that trains show up every few minutes

You can tap your Debit card directly onto the oyster readers? without having a physical oyster card?

I just generally go all grumbly old man when I go to London for some reason haha, so I may be biased about the whole thing.

Yup! Works exactly like a regular Oyster card, ‘cept you don’t have to top it up, obviously.
